Friday was an all day trip to Assisi! It is a beautiful quaint city, part of which is built on the side of a hill. It is full of small side streets, path ways, cobble stone, stairs, and roads that only the tiny little cars i love to much can fit down. It was an all school trip so the first hour and a half was a tour of the church that is the center of the town. Then we were free to explore for like 3 hours! Maggie and i conquered the city :) We had a really nice lunch at an outside cafe and then went walking, all over the place. We went as high as we could and got some amazing views from this structure that looked like an old castle. Then went back down into the city via a dirt path, some cobble stone stairs, and streets with little old ladies poking their heads out of their windows watching us walk by. Haha it was so cute!
Saturday was my day off, well not really 'off' because i did have a lot of reading and the rather challenging Italian homework. But whats homework when im sitting out on a terrace with the beautiful sun :)
Sunday we went to Cinque Terra! It is a group of 5 towns up and down one of the most beautiful coastal places in Italy. We took a train to the first town then walked trough the next two along a very narrow path along the cliffs. It reminded me a lot of the drive up or down PCH where you are driving along a rather scarry road that is very very close to edge. Except because we were walking it we were able to take in the beauty so much better. Every 5 feet was another perfect shot of the bluest ocean i have ever seen! All i was thinking as i was getting hotter and hotter hiking this path was how much i wanted to jump into the water. And eventually we did! At the 4th town we stopped had a good lunch: I ate octopus, it was gooood! Maggie, Alexis and i found a perfect spot off some big rocks to jump in. It felt sooo good! The water is super salty so you float really well. It is also really really clear blue: absolutely beautiful.
As we were swimming int he amazing water Maggie began to freak out and say that something stung her... She started to book it back to the rocks. Just as i turned to make sure she was ok, something sharp hit my thigh! Like not an ok feeling! Maggie later said she has never seen me swim so fast for land before. The Medusa's got us! In Italian the word for Jellyfish is Medusa, haha, pretty perfect huh?! They were just little guys, about 2 or 3 inches in diameter but they still hurt. Maggie got it on her arm, me on my inner thigh, and Alexis on her calf. Do not worry though the stings were not so bad that we had to do anything about them, just washed them off and called them battle wounds!
The last beach luckily was Medusa free and we swam for about an hour in beautiful weather, beautiful water, and on a beautiful beach: it was perfect. And just what some Southern California
girls needed! We all passed out on the train ride home :)
Alexis, Maggie, and i showing off our battle wounds! You cannot really seem the red marks in the picture but i guess thats good because it shows they were not that bad.
I mean they were intense Big Red scars ;)
